5th & 8th Grade counselor
5TH GRADE CLASSES: MRS. TRACE & MRS. BECKWITH
Grade 8 lessons begin with team building activities. The students are challenged to work through their frustration and to be patient with others as they work through it too! We will move into self concept and personal goals in the next few weeks.
Grade 5 lessons begin with team building for pairs and small groups. We use these lessons to build skills in communication as well as working through conflict. Ask your student about 'Saving Sam' or the 'Alaska' activity.
Hello, I am Megan Grimshaw. I have been working with youth since I was one myself! My love for psychology coupled with my passion for working with students led me to my career in Guidance Counseling and I love it. I earned my BA in Psychology and my Masters in School Counseling Psychology. Just last year I became a National Board Certified Counselor; we never stop learning! I have worked with youth in many different places including Rhode Island, Hawaii and Maryland. I spent my first two years living in Maine working at Lake Region Middle School and I'm very excited to now be here at Westbrook Middle School.
When I was in middle school I was involved in everything; from student council and band to sports and organizing events. I kept busy. I am grateful for all the many ways I was able to explore and engage during my middle school years and strive to support all the students I work with to do the same. I had wonderful school mentors as a youth and now have the chance to play that role in the lives of students here at WMS.
I love working with middle school students. During this dynamic and tumultuous time of change and growth, I hope to be a support to all of my students in ways both big and small. As it says on my door, “I might not be able to solve all of your problems, but I can promise you won't have to face them alone”.
I can be reached by phone at 854-0830 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
